Hello Friends 

Here I want to share with you the quick grandma's tips which is always helpful in cooking. 

Remedy for Salt Curry 

Wash a potato and cut in to 2 pieces. Place the two halves of the raw potato in to the curry and it will absorb the extra salt. 

Cut an Onion without crying 

Adopt these methods to cut onions without crying-peel and cut the onions under running water or chop onions near gas flame or you can refrigerate onions before cutting. 

Overripe Tomatoes

Dip the tomato in to the cold water and some salt, leave them overnight. Next day they will be fresh and firm to touch.

Maintain the whiteness of Rice

At the time of cooking rice add the few drops of lemon juice. The color of the grains become bright white.

Fresh Lemon

Keep lemon fresh by dipping them in cold water before keeping them in refrigerator. 

Get Rid of Hard Lemon

Dip hard lemon in warm water. It will facilitate as easier squeeze of lemons.

Milk Tea with Ginger 

Add the ginger piece in water during boiling before adding the tea leaves. It gives extra zing specially in winter. 

Garlic peel easily

Warm garlic before peeling in microwave or warm water, the skin off easily in garlic. 

Dried Herbs

If you are using dry herbs in recipe then remember to crush it before adding as it will release there fragrance and gives a better taste.

Coconut Break Down

To break down coconut easily keep it in fridge for 30 - 60 minutes before breaking and after 1 hr when you will break it then you will see that the shell separate easily. 

Cornflour Mix 

Cornflour is an excellent helpful hand for thickening the soup, Remember to add the cornflour to soup by first making a thin paste in cold water. Means you can make first the paste of cornflour and then add this past to soup and the soup will be thick. 

Garlic Break Option

If garlic bread is not available to serve with soup, etc then the easy way to make garlic bread at home is that crush some cloves of garlic and mast it like a paste, the paste has to be fine chopped and mix the paste with butter and spread this mix paste in bread and toast the bread you will have similar flavor.

Sandwich Garnishing

These simple things are always helpful to make the sandwich look rich during presentation. Always decorate plate of Sandwich with following veggies and you can see the plate looks great. Shredded Cabbage, Carrot Julienne, Tomato slice, sliced beetroots. 

Hard to Soft Bread

If you found that the bread is 1 day old and become hard then here is an easy tip to make it soft. Get the bowl and out some water let it be heated as once the steam started then hold the bread in the steam overt the bowl for few seconds you will find that the bread becomes soft to serve.

Warm Chappatis

After making the chappatis always cover the chappatis with clean cloth from both side or you can wrap with clean cloth and put it in tight container as it will keep the chappatis warm.

Vada Watery Batter

If your vada batter becomes watery then you will have a problem of oil splattering when you will fry it. So you can add a table spoon of ghee to the batter and your problem will be solved.

Sticky rice issue

Now you can avoid the sticky rice. soak washed rice in water for at least 10 to 15 minutes before making it, You can add a teaspoon of oil in to the rice to get separated grains of cooked rice.

Soft Idlis

To make the soft idlis here is the trick, you do not beat the batter before pouring idlis as the air bubble sin helps the to get the soft idlis. 

Hot oil

If the oil in the pan becomes hot and start foaming and rises in the pan at the time put a piece of tamarind to the oil as it will help to prevent foaming and spill over. 


Crispy Dosa

To make the crispy dosa here is the trick, remember to add 1 table spoon of fenugreek seeds ( Methi Dana ) seeds in to the urad daal and grind it. 

Hastened Cooking process of Daal

If you will use a pinch of turmeric in all types of daal at the time of making it then it will hastened the complete process means the process of making will become more faster.
